Originally a small fishing village Quarteira has now grown into an ideal holiday resort. The new pedestrianised promenade with small shops, open air cafes, bars and restaurants faces onto a stretch of soft sandy beach, an ideal place to enjoy one of the Algarvians favourite pastimes ‘People Watching’. In the Old Town you will find a daily fish and live produce market and on Wednesdays there is a fascinating Gypsy market.
